4th church stop. This is also my first time to see San Roque's church... i love how each church we went to has its own character... this one feels the most friendly for me... i don't know why, but that's how i feel when we got there.
It looks big from the outside, and a lot bigger once you enter... It also has a big courtyard... very spacious inside and out. :-)
church's facade... |
this is the site that will welcome you once you step at the entrance... |
i am just curious that many catholic church these days have image of risen Christ on top of the altar... i grew up used to the crucified image... |
and this one really made me smile... i have encountered this version of the Last Supper before too! This was made by Joey Velasco, a Filipino artist. He wanted to depict Christ's last meal as sharing it with Filipino kids... each kid in that table actually represent a real kid that the artist actually met... there's a documentary of the artist's thoughts on the painting. Here's the link: Kambas ng Lipunan |

this and the Virgin Mary's add to the charm of the church... the grottos outside... |

I was here during the dedication of the Church after the renovation and a lot has improved since, like the courtyard.
ReplyDeleteI like the Last Supper stained glass.
The parish priest here, Fr. Alain is friendly and brotherly, maybe it helped give a friendly ambience....
I will share the blog with him...
