Reminiscing our 2009 Pinatubo Trek!

i haven't blogged about that trip...just posted the gazillion pix in my multiply...

For 4x4 arrangements, you may contact:

- remember January-February are the best months to go to Pinatubo to catch the lake at its emerald green beauty. It would be murky brown during rainy season. :-)

one year ago today... we finally pushed thru with the dreamt pinatubo trek...

i was trying to create a group of 6 so i can join ezra's group but i was able to round up friends from GE and from UP Astrosoc... we had 4 groups of 6 !!! (excluding ezra's, they've rescheduled) this is the first time that i had a trip with my 2 sets of friends together! it was fun (kinda confusing though because i have to join one group and then another, but i still enjoyed it!)

we went to Tarlac in 3 different groups... the Astro group travelled by bus, the 2 GE group had a van, and my group hitched with kuya jodl's car. once in Capas, Tarlac we need to register at their station. I have previously contacted Kuya Wendell (president of the 4x4 Association) and made arrangements. This was my group's 4x4

we have to travel in 4x4 for 1.5 hours through the rugged terrain shaped by the lahar from the 1990s explosion of the Pinatubo.

and then trek for another 1.5hours through boulders and streams...it was an easy walk, not too much uphills... challenges are merely on climbing the boulders to get through...

...we cant resist camwhoring along the way causing a little headache to our guide (check out that dude in green behind us)... he needs to stop or go back again for some of us who gets behind because of taking pix...

we saw some stone guides along the way...

and armed soldiers too...

we didnt notice that 1.5hours had already pass... we were having fun along the trek...and the breathtaking crater lake makes the trip even more rewarding... it looks so serene and sooo unreal... i literally had my jaw dropped when i saw this...its like as if im still looking at a photograph... it was sooo still.... we had to go down to really get close to the lake. it was way down, notice the size of the people already below.

we immediately ate our packed lunch once we reached the bottom. (i love this pic! hehehe gotcha kuya kin!)

then took a dip at the freezing cold lake...

me and Kris even dared cross to the other side... i cant believe i agreed to do that, i've never done that in my whole life... the other side was farther than I thought, but im proud we made it and back!

tumtum got his pinatubo pic too! this is the only time that i was able to bring him in any of my trips... hope to take him with me in the nexts...

on the way back to the jumpoff point the group was still camwhoring causing traffic to the other groups coming down... hehehe

we met some aetas on our way down. Sol was holding the remaining Cloud9 of the group and decided to give it to them...

i cant believe my friends' energy even after the trip! that's why it's always fun with them. :-)
