Dipolog: conquered Linabo Peak! :-)

this was supposed to be a last option in our Dipolog-Dapitan itinerary because we know how physical this can get... we were supposed to climb 3003 steps to get to the peak of Linabo...

but for some reason after breakfast we just thought of doing the Linabo peak so we can tick it off the list already... :-) everyone was very enthusiastic at the start... here's the gang at the starting point.

i will have to admit even i didn't think of how hard it can get... the 3003 steps sounded simple from reading notes about it on the net. :-)

the Linabo peak had been a Holy week place for the people of Dipolog because of the 14 stations.

i have read that despite the really steap terrain a lot of devotees camp around the area during holy weak.

i love how well maintained the place was. we've noticed sweepers along the way. although the trees around naturally litter the place with leaves they still exert effort to keep the place clean...

we've also met some students who travel their way down by sliding through the bars with just a piece of mosquito net...i've asked him to show it for my ixus...later they told me that this had been featured by Korina Sanchez in her Balitang K before.

it looked so easy...i was really tempted to try... but at the same time the thought of falling and injuring myself on the first day of the trip made me stop... :D

the trail does not end on the 14th station of the cross... the 14th station in only somewhere in the 1800th step... beyond that you'll go through a small community... there's even this elementary school. :-) i just thought probably no one in that place is fat hehe...

we almost gave up after reaching the small community but our friends told us that we're almost at the peak... but after we made a turn we were welcomed by this scene... is that what you call near???

well the climb became more interesting for us because we met this group, we had an instant photo and video coverage!!! (as if our own cameras are not enough hehe) They were from the NBN station in Dipolog and were heading to their station's tower at the top of the mountain to make some repairs.

while we were struggling our with our last steps up, we were wondering how was our 3 friends who gave up somewhere at the 500th step... :-) well looks like they were able to rest already... :D

there's nothing much really at the top... just a nice view of Dipolog City... but it's the climb!

nothing beats the natural high feeling! :-) proud to have made it on top!!! :-)

  2. I just wish that the city government will build somewhat like a viewing deck, park facilities, do landscaping at the peak of Linabo and add a tropical eatery. That will be indeed make this place a relaxation haven with breath taking views of Dapitan and Dipolog cities.
