the waiting time: labor daysssss!

i've been wanting to blog about this last year after giving birth but pao's the priority.... our birthing part had a little story in it which i think is worth sharing... :-)

i was admitted Oct 7 afternoon. After i made final habilin before i go on leave i headed to ER. i was not feeling any pain, no water bag burst, nothing. when i was wheeled in inside OR i was actually asked by the midwife why i was admitted already, i just said my OB says so hehe :-) i'm not sure now if i was immediately induced but i remember i've gone through the process twice but still end up feeling no pain at all, not even a pinch kind of pain... nothing! Oct 8 came and we were all hoping that would be THE day since it's a good number for chinese (pero di po kami chinese ha hehe)... but i guess pao was still having fun inside hehe... during this time i've already lost count how many pregnant women came in the Labor room and left to give birth.. i was beginning to feel the frustration. the DR ladies instructed me to walk and do bends... didn't work still... i've already seen and talked with all the DR nurses and midwives, and i think almost all of them had spent 2 duties with me in there..

Oct9, last resort was done to induce my labor... 8hours later finally my 1cm progressed to 4cm, enough to check on the baby i suppose. Stat CS was scheduled immediately after meconium was found... i was under anesthesia the whole time i can barely hear them before i went blank... then went back to a groggy consciousness hearing my anesth say "charm gising na, ikaw ha kinain mo lahan ng pagkain, ang liit ng baby mo" haha! i remember my thoughts then, i was like "oh no! mana sa tatay!!!" then i went blank again... hahahaha! :D

and while all these are happening to me in the labor room (Oct7-9!!!), the hubby and family and friends had been finding ways to entertain themselves in my room, fighting boredom and anxiety hehehe :-) here's their little photostory...

daddy-baby first meeting...

  1. I remember when I give birth to the little one, the doctors and nurses would ask me to walk but nothing happened. it is frustrating seeing some pregnant women comes in and out in the labor room while no changes happening to me. Visiting from ComEx Oct, btw, i give birth via induced labor...

  3. Sis, we almost have the same birthing story and like I feel no pain too. Parang nangangalay lang un balakang ko ganun. I ended up CS kasi ayaw lumabas ng baby ko kahit anong ire ko. The pedia said, may fetal distress na so CS na talaga. I am afraid of pain talaga but during giving birth naovercome ko lahat. Nasa isip lang talaga ang sakit, hehe :)

  4. Congratulations! I can relate to your story. I just give birth a couple of months ago and the pain during labor is still fresh in my memory. I give birth via induced because the bag of water comes out first but I didn't feel pain. Love reading your story.

  6. Star-studded pala naman eh, buong angkan mo kasama hehehe.... you have a very supportive family.

I already two daughters but I could clearly remember the labor pains I suffered for both. With my eldest, it was really terrible. Add to my pain were the insensitive hospital staff. With my second, I got the care I need from the hospital staff.

  8. I undergone CS too, Charm! Ang hirap ng recovery pag CS noh?! Grabe talaga, but because of Cyler mabilis akong naka-recover kasi gusto kong maalagaan siya agad. 15hours akong nasa labor room pero 1cm lang ako, 7lbs kasi si Cyler tapos ung amniotic fluid ko mababa na so ayun di na sya natulungan ma-push, after 15 hrs my OB and hubby decided na i-CS nako and then our little bundle of joy was born.

Oh and before I forgot... Happy birthday little boy, Pao! May you grow in love and with God!

  9. I have no such stories to tell yet hehehe...I remember visiting my sister the first time she gave birth. I was eager to see the little one but coming from work, I was also tired so I fell asleep on the other vacant bed beside hers. When I woke up, the nursery was already off for visitors...arrgghhh...talk about missed opportunity hehehe.

  16. Congrats to your new baby. I was at work the time Mommy sent to the hospital with my Mom. She was admitted at about 9am and went thru CS at 10pm. Hinintay pa talaga pagdating ko ng hospital bago naganak. hehehe
I can relate to the hapiness and excitement of your husband when he first saw the baby.

  17. My wife's story with our first kids was kind of the same because she did her labor first for about 5 to 6 hours and when she couldn't bear it and she was turning violet due to pain (she really have low pain tolerance)her OB asked my mother-in-law to do the CS. I was two province away from her.

I've been writing too long now. Congrats and may the good Lord bless you and your family always.

  18. hmmm, i was joking around in our office that I have signed a memo about no more mentioning of "buntis" and the likes. They were teasing me because i'm married but then never been pregnant until now. Then, I read the story of charm about giving birth. hahaha, looks like even to blogging, I am also teased, in a different way. lol

  21. Mine's different. I went on labor for two days and a painful one. I was in pain but I wouldnt progress from 7 cm. it was like that the whole night, they broke my water to hasten it up pero wala pa din. But i ended up on a normal delivery to a7.1 ibs. Always worth remembering.

  24. Congratulations on your bundle of joy! :D I had two CS so I didn't really have experience in birthing/labor. I planned for a natural delivery but my pelvic bone after pelvimetry x-ray showed that I couldn't. So, CS was the way to go... and twice. Sakit sa bulsa! LOL

  25. I always thought I had the worst delivery story, but after reading this, I realized I was wrong. My labor pain didn't even last for a day. Although, yeah, it wasn't easy. Men are lucky that they don't get to experience that pain, but women are luckier for having the privilege to grow with and fend for our kids even before they're born.
