fave manila foodtrip

foodtrip will always be a part of my itinerary where ever i find myself, hoping to try something new and probably replicate it at home! but when it's Manila, my home for 11years, my list of what to eat will always include the following (and more!!! but since my tummy will only have some capacity,  i just try to accomodate as much of my faves as i can hehe)

italiani's sicilian salad will always be a fave! iya, imee and KV (my HDPP buddies) were the ones who introduced me to this.... somehow managed to force my GE friends (kuya jods, ezra, dianne, julie and ugags) to like it too after my several wins on American Idol bets with kuya Jodl and this is always the prize i ask hehehe... and eversince we parted ways, a get-together would always mean a sicilian salad date at italianis! :D (their pasta and pizza dishes are also perfect!)

i love the lemon de jan dressing, grilled chicken, bits of mangoes and grapes, croutons and greens combi... refreshing! i've tried to recreate this at home already!!! well except for the dressing which kuya jods seems to have figured out (mayo+garlic+some lemon i think)... it's something i will have to try soon!

pancit lucban of Buddy's is a must eat too!!! :D i particularly love it with the vinegar available in the resto...it has to be eaten with the vinegar! hehe :D they also have a pancit lucban with pesto version! but i still prefer the classic, tastes really better with the vinegar hehe :D my Buddy's buddy will always be my 5947B housemate and highschool friend cherry! our apartment was just some 3 blocks away from a Buddy's resto in Makati, so pag nagkakatamaran magluto...Buddy's time na! :D their Budin is in our must have too, it's actually a cassava cake, but when you eat it specially if it's still warm, it kinda melts in your mouth! :D

teriyaki boy! faves here: tofu steak, katsudon, maki, asparagus wrapped in bacon and more... :D my go-to resto if i want some jap food fix... :D

The Old Spaghetti House was an old favorite because of the Aligue pasta... we're supposed to eat at Sbarro but the branch near where we had our summit was no longer there so we just ended at TOSH... but the Aligue pasta is no longer in the menu... so i just settled for some longganisa pasta and mozarela sticks which didn't really made me happy with the meal hehe :D

a more recent fave is Bannaple... any of their pasta is a happy meal for me... the first time i tried the raved banoffe pie it did not made me a fan... but i gave it a 2nd chance during this visit and though the craze i think is gone, im now a fan! hehe :D

other foodstuff in my list that i missed:
 - pad thai
 - mini stop's sundae
 - sbarro's baked zitti
 - that tofu steak in a cafeteria along kalayaan ave (ezra! ano nga name nung place?)
 - shawarma! (zambo's version is kinda crazy, no cucumber but with lots of fried potatoes)
 - rodic's tapsilog
 - kwek kwek! (the quail eggs....zambo's version of a kwek kwek is made of chicken insides fried with lots of flour)
 - pancake house's tacos and chicken
 - and more....

there's more but i can't remember them now... although a lot of new places can be explored when you're in manila but i must have my classic faves before trying the newbies hehe :D

how about you...what's your fave food in manila? :D
